A one-day-seminar with Dr. David Chamberlain

Friday, 25 September 2009, 9.30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

On the occasion of his tour through various European cities, David B. Chamberlain, Ph.D., will also offer two one-day workshops in Germany:

1. On Tuesday, 22. September 2009 at Seminarhaus Hof Laig in Lienen

2.On Friday, 25. September 2009 at Hotel Molkenkur in Heidelberg (within the framewok of the ISPPM Conference in Heidelberg: 24.-27. September 2009)

During the annual ISPPM Conference from 24.-27. September 2009 in Heidelberg, Dr. Chamberlain will receive an award for his life’s work as a pioneer for a new paradigm in psychology and medicine.

David B. Chamberlain, Ph.D., is the author of The Mind of Your Newborn Baby.

In his seminar, he will discuss the basic concepts of his new book focusing on Windows on the Womb: Your First Nine Months prior to its publication.

You will have the unique possibility to experience Dr. Chamberlain himself teaching the essence of his research and to exchange ideas with him.

We are planning to design the seminars in Lienen and in Heidelberg as an exchange of ideas between colleagues and non-professionals with an interest in this field who have had a glimpse of how significant the research results of prenatal psychology are for their own life and professional environment. You will find the main points we plan to focus on plus some organisational details in the attachment.

We hope to attract a great number of participants for these two events, since these are themes which profoundly affect the core of everyone’s life.

Importance of the seminar

At this turning point in world culture, we are between old and new paradigms of understanding about the nature of babies.
The old paradigm could be described as a brain-matter paradigm which effectively excluded both prenatal and newborn memory and learning. In contrast, the emerging new paradigm focuses on awareness and holistic development from pre-conception through birth.
Dr. Chamberlain will draw on experimental findings, clinical observations and parental reports to show that babies have a sense of self, a purpose, and assign meanings to their experiences. They possess more senses and emotions than we give them credit for, learn quickly, remember unconsciously, are expert communicators, and are extremely vulnerable.

Seminar leader

Since 1974, when he first encountered birth memories in his practice, David has been gathering and publishing evidence justifying a fundamental change in how we view prenates and newborns.
His 58 publications, including the popular book, The Mind of Your Newborn Baby (now in 12 languages) are a major contribution to the growing literature of prenatal psychology. David has lectured in 20 countries, can be seen in a dozen educational videos and DVDs, and has been featured in television specials in Japan and Korea. Since 1983, David has been on the Board of Directors of the Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health (APPPAH), served eight years as President, and is Founding Editor of the website www.birthpsychology.com.

The seminar will be held in English with German translation. It will be conversational and interactive.
